Current North American Championship points leader Scott Bradley has captured the pole for Sunday’s race at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca today in a qualifying session that actually placed two World Speed drivers on the front row before technical inspections found a miss-marked part on the car of David Stover.

“Today’s qualifying session was awesome,” Bradley said afterwards. “My engineer, Mikel Miller, gave me the best Star Mazda I have ever driven.  It is great to start out front at one of my home tracks in front of my sponsors, family, and friends.”

Bradley, piloting the #14 Polycom/Shames construction Star Mazda, lapped the 2.1 mile circuit in 1:27.69, two tenths of a second faster than David Stover in the #15 Grigsby’s Carpets/Dupont Stainmaster Carpets Mazda, before Stover was moved to the back of the field for the race by the series stewards.  “I’m disappointed of course,” Stover said regarding his disqualification from the session but was also philosophical.  “I should have a pretty busy race tomorrow.”

Frank McCormick managed to qualify his #16 Onyx Pharmaceuticals Mazda in 28th position while Rick Waddell brought his Northwest Speedwerx/Kart2Cart Mazda home 30th in the 46 car field.
