January 20th, 2016
Forli, Italy
Sixteen year old Formula Car Challenge champion, and VMB Scholarship driver Jaden Conwright has signed to contest the 2016 Italian Formula 4 Championship with Vincenzo Sospiri Racing (VSR). In 2014 Conwright won the VMB Driver Development Racing Scholarship and World Speed Motorsports Rising Star Award. He went on to secure the FormulaSPEED class championship later that same year. This past season he competed in VMB’s Pro Mazda and finished 2nd in the 2015 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear National Championship.
In late 2015 Conwright received an invitation to test for VSR during an official F4 series test. During the pre-season testing at Vallelunga Conwright posted the second fastest time of the test. At that time, VSR began negotiations to secure Conwright for the 2016 season.
For 2016 Conwright will line-up alongside Marino Sato at VSR and in February testing will begin to select the driver who will race the team’s third car. The first race of the Italian F4 Championship takes place at the Misano World Circuit April 8th-10th.
Jaden Conwright: “I’m excited to be making my European debut with VSR this year, and couldn’t have selected a better team to introduce me to European single-seaters and auto racing. I look forward to more seat time and productive test days before the first race at Misano, to learn and be able to fight amongst the leaders during the season.”
Vincenzo Sospiri: “Jaden came to us at the end of last season to do a test at Adria. He was immediately impressive and we invited him to stay for the final test of the year at Vallelunga. A good performance during the test saw him post the second fastest time. I’m very pleased that he will be racing with my team this season and I look forward to seeing him achieving good results right from the start.”
World Speed: “We have been working with Jaden since we selected him as a WSM Rising Star and then VMB Driver Development provided him with his first scholarship in 2014. He is a quick learner, and that helped him secure a seat in the VMB Pro Mazda for 2015, stated World Speed President Telo Stewart. “It’s great to see drivers like Jaden continue making forward progress after spending time with World Speed Motorsports, and VMB Driver Development. We are looking forward to watching him race against some of Europe’s best talent.”
