World Speed Motorsports announced today that 2017 Sanzaru Karting Championship Pro Stock Honda Vice -Champion Kyle Loh is joining the squad to compete in the inaugural Formula Pro USA Western Championships. “Kyle has already begun testing with us, and is great to work with” noted WSM Team Principal Telo Stewart. “He is very coachable, and is just soaking up all of the input and transforming it into speed. This is the perfect timing, and step as he graduates from karts into open wheel racing.”
Many up and coming racers like Loh are looking at the Formula Pro USA Western Championships as a great way to prepare for the FIA F4 United States Championship. “Drivers can race head-to-head at some of the greatest tracks in the country in the same exact car that they will eventually race in the FIA F4 championship,” added Stewart. This gives them an advantage to competitors who move into the series from different arenas. The costs to race a JS-F4 in the western championships with a top level team is very cost effective, and the number of possible extra races and test days are incredible.”
“I’m very stoked to be racing an F4 car with World Speed Motorsports this upcoming season. I’ve had a relatively short 3-year karting career that started when I was 16 years old, and I wasn’t expecting myself to begin racing in cars so soon. However, I feel like I’m ready for the challenge, and am looking forward to a productive year with World Speed. There’s no doubt in my mind that the team and I will make significant progress in both driving skill and education. I’m very grateful to my dad, Ken Loh, for supporting my dreams of one day becoming a professional racecar driver, and to Cameron Karting for all that they have done for me ever since the beginning. It’s already a dream come true to be surrounded by such supportive people. I’ve been working hard and practicing nonstop for this kind of opportunity, and seeing all of that hard work pay off further fuels my desire to win more races. Let’s do this!”
Loh and World Speed Motorsports are currently testing in preparation for the 2018 Formula Pro USA Winter Series season opener at Auto Club Speedway in January.
