MAKING PROGRESS

It’s hard to believe that we are already halfway finished with the FormulaSPEED championship. It’s pretty crazy looking back at how much I have learned within only six months of driving the car and working with World Speed. About one year ago, I had only driven a formula car once, and now I am continuing to learn how to improve my driving. Whenever I get the chance, I try to look back at how far I have come in the past year, and to be thankful for all of the opportunities that have been provided to me. I wouldn’t be here without all of the selfless people who have helped me reach this point, and the ones who continue to help me as I try to progress towards this dream.

With only two rounds left taking place at Buttonwillow Raceway Park, and Thunderhill Raceway, I am doing my best to keep learning as much as possible and figure out my plans for next year. The last race I competed in at Laguna Seca was another great weekend, as I continued to progress with my driving. Of course, it helped to come back to a familiar track, which assisted me with feeling comfortable in the car quicker, as I had only done some training in a kart between the races. Throughout the course of the 2 day race weekend, I experienced some new things, including full course cautions and race restarts, which may not seem like much, but I didn’t really know what to expect considering we rarely have these in kart races. Thanks to everyone at World Speed, I was instructed on exactly what to do, which always helps to bring down the feeling of nervousness. Fortunately I had no on track incidents, and both races went very smoothly, as I was able to grab my first two wins in a racecar. I can finally say I’ve reached this small milestone, which has been a goal of mine for as long as I can remember. I owe a huge thank you to everyone who has made this possible, including my Mom and Dad, VMB Driver Development, World Speed Motorsports, and all of my supporters!

Within the next few months, we will be heading to Buttonwillow, California to be competing in the third round of the series, at a brand new track for me. I am already very excited to learn this new track, and to be back in a race car in the next few months. Between now and then, I will continue to do some kart racing, coaching, training in the gym, and doing what I can to be back in a car as soon as possible. I am always looking for anyone that may want to help support my dream in one day racing professionally. If you are interested please email me at jtpkart46@gmail.com or call me at 925-588-3464.
