18 August 2001.  Bradley retakes points lead with podium finish at Mosport

Scott Bradley led an energized World Speed effort this weekend at Mosport and re-established his championship lead over Chad Block with a strong third place finish in the #14 Polycom/Shames Construction World Speed Star Mazda race car despite a sticking throttle for two-thirds of the 26 lap event.

"It feels great to be back on top of the points," an excited Bradley said afterwards.  "After the way our race went in Portland it was good to let everyone know that we are still a force to be reckoned with as the season passes the halfway point."

David Stover in only his second series race continued to impress the rest of the field in his #15 Grigsby's Carpet Mazda as he backed up his 11th place finish in Portland with a fifth place finish on the fast 2.4 mile track outside of Toronto, Canada.  Stover helped Bradley along the way as he passed Block early in the race to help stretch the lead.

Frank McCormick and Rick Waddell enjoyed an incident-free race as well as they brought their cars home 21st and 24th respectively.

The Star MAzda Series now moves to familiar ground at Laguna Seca Raceway on September 6-8 as a support event for the American Le Mans Series.  The Sears Point Race will be broadcast by Speedvision on Monday, August 20 at 5pm and 9pm Pacific time.  For more information on the Star Mazda Series please visit www.starmazda.com.
