July 10, 1999. The "Comeback Kid" Nicolas Rondet Qualifies Fifth

ELKHART LAKE, WISCONSIN (July 10, 1999) --- Nicolas Rondet, who drives the #14, World Speed/Harmony School/Martini Sunglasses/Red Line Oil, Swift 008.a, made an outstanding comeback today and qualified fifth for
tomorrow's 17-lap race through the famed 4.048- mile road course at Road America.

World Speed Motor Sports was off to a rough start during Friday's qualifying session. Rondet was able to complete only one- and- a- half laps due to a mechanical problem. But, luckily the crew was able to pin point the problem and this afternoon, during the second qualifying session, Rondet made up for lost time.

Rondet quickly moved up from the back of the pack to the front, "I was actually on pole for awhile, but Lazzaro moved up and broke a track record," said Rondet. "But, fifth is a good place to start, especially because we have had so many problems this weekend. It looks like our luck is turning around. So, we will see how things go tomorrow."

Currently, Rondet is in 7th place for point standings in the Kool Toyota-Atlantic series, and first place for the Rookie-of-the-Year title.

Tomorrow's Atlantic activities begin with a 15-minute warm-up at 8:25 a.m., followed by the race at 10:30 am
