Formula_Car_Challenge_presented_by_GoodyearThe Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear announced the 2015 schedule today. The series will race this upcoming season at Portland International Raceway, Thunderhill Raceway Park, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, Auto Club Speedway, and a variety of configurations at Sonoma Raceway, including with IndyCar. “As has been the model since the series inception, a majority of our events feature exclusive track time for our drivers,” stated FCC Series Official Jeff Loge.

There are three “diamond” events on the West Coast 2015 calendar being announced today. These three events will make up a “Triple Crown” to determine the 2015 Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear National Champion. The first one takes place on the July 4th race weekend at Portland International Raceway. “This event is considered the Oregon region’s premier event, and is part of the SCCA US MAJORS Program,” added Loge. “Our series has two exclusive races, but drivers can also opt to participate in the SCCA sessions making the event a quadruple header!” In August, the Formula Car Challenge presented by Goodyear is a featured series during the GoPro Grand Prix alongside IndyCar at Sonoma. The 11th annual Verizon IndyCar Series event at Sonoma Raceway will serve as the season finale for the 17-race IndyCar 2015 schedule, marking the first time the wine country road course has concluded a major open-wheel series season. The final diamond event is at the Pacific Coast Road Racing Championships (PCRRC) in October at Auto Club Speedway.

“We are excited about the Triple Crown format,” stated World Speed Communications Director Mark Milazzo. “We believe this will make the National Championship even more significant, and this is in addition to all of the other action packed events we participate in. Every event NASA sanctions features all kinds of great racing action. Over the course of the season we will be scheduled alongside the US Touring Car Championship, Porsche GT3 Cup, Global Time Attack, Porsche Racing Club, American Iron Series, The Spec Miata Challenge, and a host of other interesting racing series.”

2015 marks the 10th Anniversary of the Formula Car Challenge series, and the first season that the FCC National Champions will be determined on their performances from multiple weekends.

Racers have already started testing for the 2015 FCC season, and the next race on the FCC calendar is the final weekend of the 2015 Winter Series Championships at Auto Club Speedway in Southern California on January 17th – 18th.
